This beautiful antique Persian Mohajeran Sarouk is an especially desirable example due to its unusual nearly square format and elegant ivory field. Most Mohajeran Sarouks were woven in rectangular formats with darker grounds, making this light-colored square example considerably rarer and more decorative.

The design features a highly refined Tree-of-Life and floral vase composition arranged symmetrically across the ivory field. Delicate flowering branches, stylized palmettes, rosettes, and cypress-like motifs radiate from a central floral medallion, creating a balanced and sophisticated composition. The drawing is crisp and artistic, reflecting the superior workshop production associated with the Mohajeran weavers.

The rich navy and madder-red border frames the ivory field beautifully and creates dramatic contrast. The palette combines deep indigo, ruby red, soft sky blue, ivory, and subtle rose tones, all harmoniously balanced and characteristic of the finest early 20th-century Sarouk production.

The wool appears exceptionally soft and silky, with the velvety texture and luminous surface that collectors seek in the best Mohajeran Sarouks. The combination of fine weave, unusual square proportions, ivory ground, and excellent preservation gives this rug exceptional decorative and collector appeal.
Considering the rarity of the size and ivory-ground design:

Retail value: $4,500 – $7,500

In a high-end antique rug gallery or designer showroom, this rug could reasonably be offered in the $6,000 – $9,000 range because of its unusual proportions, excellent condition, fine wool, and highly decorative ivory-ground composition. Among small Mohajeran Sarouks, this is a particularly attractive and desirable example.
